How it works
1. What the code requires
Emergency responders have to be able to use their radios everywhere in the building. Your fire official checks it before signing off.
2. Why most buildings need help
Concrete, steel, coated glass and below-grade levels all block radio signal. Modern construction is particularly good at it.
3. How it gets solved
A rooftop antenna picks up the signal, an amplifier boosts it, and antennas carry it through the building. You’ll see it called a BDA or an ERRC system.

The exact rules depend on the code edition your town has adopted — usually IFC 510 and NFPA 1225. We check that for you before anything is designed. Your local fire official has the final say.

It depends on the size of the building, how many floors need covering, and how strong the outside signal is. Anyone giving you a firm price before testing is guessing. We price it once the test tells us what’s needed — and if you pass, there’s nothing to buy.
In most towns, yes. Radio coverage is usually checked before final sign-off, so a missing or failed test can hold up your CO. That’s why it’s worth testing early rather than the week of your inspection.
Testing and a report usually take a few days. If a system is needed, design comes next, then installation — a few days on a mid-size building, longer on a large or occupied one — and then final testing. Starting early keeps it off your critical path.
Yes, and it’s the building owner’s responsibility, not the installer’s. We do the yearly test, replace batteries when they’re due, and keep the records ready for your fire official.
